Cup Champions by Joe
On Tuesday the 25th of March, our Year 8 boy’s football team played against Ashcombe in the district cup final. Many games had been played in order to reach the final, so all the players were excited and ready for the game.
The game kicked off and immediately we were showing off some lovely attacking play. Joey was unlucky to hit the bar early on. Max scored shortly after. By this time, we were totally dominating the Ashcombe. We quickly scored again after some great play from Ashley, who crossed the ball to Max to volley in. A brilliant flying tackle from Josh kept it 2-0 at the break. We swiftly scored 2 more soon after half time, with a brilliant double from Ashley. Unfortunately, one of the opposition’s players went through on goal and scored, with nothing our goalie, Oscar, could do. Despite their goal, we didn’t let it get to us. We quickly retaliated by sending Max through to complete his hat trick and make it 5-1. The game ended and Hinchley Wood were crowned district cup winners! The team would like to thank Joel and Stewart for their coaching and training. Team Members: Oscar, Josh, Ben, Joe, Thomas, Joey, Seb, Sam, Johnny, Max, Ashley and Louis. |

Rugby Sevens by Sam
Hinchley Wood School had a tough task recently when they had to travel to Croydon and face a number of skilled and expert Rugby Sevens teams. The day started well with a win and the team then moved on to face a harder school for another victory however this was with consequences. One of the best players went out the game injured. Little did we know that he would later be rushed off to hospital. The team continued and won two out of four games reaching the quarter final and only just falling short.

Secondly, the team went down the A3 to New Malden where they faced a tougher challenge. They kicked off and won their fist game with ease. They then continued to win 3 out of 4 of their games just falling short of the quarter final. A great performance from all the boys and good luck for the future.
