Grease is the Hinchley Wood Word by Frankie and Tasha
HWS are performing Grease the musical in the upcoming months. We interviewed a selection of the cast.
Nat, who is playing Danny, said that he is happy with his role and is excited to start rehearsals.
One of his co-stars, Kirsten, is a huge fan of the show “I am so pleased that I got the role of Rizzo. I am really looking forward to singing ‘There are worse things I could do’ at the end of the musical.”
Ms Williams, a music teacher at the school, said “I am MD (musical director) of the musical. I am also assisting Ms Grey as director. I am looking forward to conducting the band and running all the choir practices. We are going to turn the hall into Rydell High (the school in Grease) and have balloons and tables. We have a very talented cast that suit their roles. It will be a fantastic show! ”
Lily, a prom queen, says she is very excited to perform in front of her friends and family. Jo is glad to be involved. Phoebe said that she is happy to be a part of the chorus and wants to start the play!
Overall we think the performance will be amazing and can’t wait for it to come together.
Talent Show by Frankie and Tasha
After Easter HWS is hosting a talent show. It will have a wide range of acts such as singing, dancing and people playing instruments. We interviewed a band, in year 8. This is what they said. “We are very excited (also a bit nervous!) For are performance. We will be singing, playing the guitar and maybe even the ukulele. Our house is Redgrave.
We also interviewed a talented girl, called Imie. She said “I am singing the song ‘clown’ by Emeli Sande. I am bit nervous but very thrilled to be performing in front of my friends and family.
Another act are two girls who will be dancing to ‘Of the night’. Frankie and Natasha are very excited because they love to dance! They hope their performance will go well.
Teachers say it will be a great success.
Author Interview by Anna, Natalie, Zuzanna
Writer Victoria Campbell has been making waves in the publishing world with her new novel Viking Gold. Hinchley Wood School was lucky enough to have her visit our school and talk about her book. We had an interview with her to talk about her novel and her career.
Victoria Campbell always loved reading and had a passion for writing, her favourite kind of style was action and adventure. She is working on her sequel to Viking Gold and once that is finished, she will start a series of books featuring World War 2.
She wanted to become a writer long after she finished school, she worked as a lawyer and she was in her mid 20s when she started writing. She enjoys writing and she is an enthusiastic reader.
She read some amazing books that she thought were very interesting, one of which she read about 15 times! She wanted to write books that would interest people just like those books she read.
Campbell said “My favourite character in Viking Gold is Sinead-the heroine of the novel- because she is cheeky and feisty and she is most like me.”
We enjoyed the interview and learned a lot about the stages of becoming a writer and the decisions that she made.
